“We’ve had two super days in the Mill and surrounding areas – spent a glorious day blitzing Pen Y Fan and the evening followed with eating, drinking and a warm fire – what else do you need in life? First visit to the Beacons but certainly not the last. It  puts perspective on the London Rat-Race”

The Brecon Beacons have an established reputation as a leisure and entertainment centre in the midst of unspoilt countryside and farming land. It certainly suits those wishing to take up outdoor pursuits at any time of year and the National Park Visitors Centre in Libanus organises courses, treks, childrens and adult activities as well as having a great restaurant for hungry appetites, hosting exhibitions and being able to furnish information about the area and it’s wildlife.

You can pony trek, ride on a horse drawn canal boat, visit caves, go to the cinema, go down a coal mine, ride on a steam train, play ten pin bowling, visit a military Museum and learn about the Industrial revolution all within 30 minutes drive of the house. Did you know that visits to the museums and many heritage sites in Wales is free!! You won’t find traffic hassles locally and can go all day in the hills without meeting a soul.

Should eating out tempt you there are nearby village pubs serving food to satisfy farmers and restaurants and hotels for more sophisticated tastes. The village pub is 5 minutes up the lane and 2 minutes back!

Alternatively another highly recommended place  would be the very friendly village pub about 4 miles away that serves tasty, freshly cooked pub and specialty food.

For food that showcases some of the most highly skilled cooking in Wales in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, just 6 miles away, we can also highly recommend the Felin Fach Griffin. be warned, you must book or be disappointed.

Historic Brecon with cathedral, leisure centre, theatre and shops is 3 miles away. What’s more, hidden and unheard 5mins away from the house is the A470 between Brecon and Cardiff (40 miles away) with a bus stop on the main road in the village serving both towns and points between and to Abergavenny.

Here are some links to local websites that will give you more of an idea about the diversity of activities and natural features that are within easy reach.
